THESE are exciting times for CODS. Our membership is on the up again and our growing list of supporters increases year-on-year. So much so that tickets for our September concerts being held in the Boniface Centre tonight and tomorrow (Friday and Saturday, September 16 and 17) sold out among members and Friends of CODS before being made available to the general public.

This year the theme is Showstoppers and all numbers have been selected from shows that will be well-known to many but with some added that could well be new to the ear.

If you are disappointed that you will not be able to attend, then part of the concert programme is being repeated in December along with some Christmas music for you to enjoy. Make a note of the dates - Friday, December 9 at Morchard Bishop Memorial Hall and Saturday, December 10 at Newton St Cyres Parish Hall. Look out for details of tickets nearer the date.

To avoid missing out on tickets for our productions why not become a Friend of CODS. For a small fee you get advanced information of all our activities including the social side with occasional visits to productions performed by other societies, both amateur and professional.

If you are interested then please email Yvonne Youles: [email protected] and she will give you all the necessary details. Alternatively, follow the links on our website: www.codsonline.com .

But here is where everyone reading this article can help us:

CODS has been chosen as one of three finalists in the RGB Building Supplies Well Built Community Fund – Amateur Dramatic Category. The decision now rests with the public to decide who should receive the £1,000 worth of building materials.

Our main Easter production always costs in the region of £18,000 and this money would help us so much in maintaining the high standards our audience have come to expect without having to look at increasing the price of our tickets.

STILL TIME TO VOTE

Votes can be cast in one of three ways from this coming Monday, September 12 to midnight on Sunday, September 25: By visiting RGB’s Crediton branch at Fordton Trading Estate and placing a chip in the CODS box; visiting RGB’s Facebook page or by emailing: mailto:[email protected] and putting “Community Fund – CODS” in the subject box.

Only one vote will be counted from each email address.

So please, please, please help us by not only voting for us yourselves but spread the word as far and wide as you can and ask all your friends and family to vote for CODS!
