A NUMBER of edible Advent calendars have been given to Crediton Foodbank by pupils of Yeoford Primary School.

Headteacher Vicki Gillon said making the calendars had been an idea from the senior pupils of Owl Class, Years 5 and 6, who felt that this year more than ever, there would be children who would benefit from extra festive spirit in their households.

She explained: “Thinking about Covid safety, they felt that passing Christmas cards around was not a good idea and the money could be better spent giving to charity.

“They wanted to give back to those less fortunate and allow as many children as possible to have a chocolate Advent calendar. We are incredibly proud of the children for coming up with such a considerate idea.

“We have been blown away by the support of our community and had a huge box of Advent calendars to pass on to the Foodbank!

“This selfless act really reflects the attitude of the wonderful pupils we have here at Yeoford. We were inundated with calendars and our wonderful families have been really supportive of the idea.”
