PROBABLY Crediton Arts Centre’s most ambitious Shakespeare production to date: two plays, “Henry IV” and “Henry V”, will be performed over five nights in the Town Square from July 5 to 9.
All are invited to attend a launch on Thursday, February 11, to hear about the plans and how anyone who would like to, might be involved.
Liz Kingdom, from Crediton Arts Centre, said: “We’ll be exploring how to recreate The Boar’s Head Tavern in the Town Square, how to follow the rise of Pince Hal from madcap lad to monarch and depicting his battles at Shrewsbury, Harfleur and Agincourt.”
Director Peter Hamilton said: “These two plays provide a fantastic opportunity to explore what it means to be a king and what makes a good king, themes which endure today as much as they did 400 years ago.
“We’ll be looking for actors, costume and set makers, props assistants and other backstage roles.
“We already have a band of five musicians working on the score.
“Anyone aged 15 upwards can attend - if you haven’t been before you’ll be given a warm welcome. “Please do come along on Thursday, February 11 at 7.30pm at Crediton Arts Centre.”
If you would like more details in advance please call Peter Hamilton on 01363 772365 or email: [email protected] .
This project is sponsored by Veitch Penny Solicitors, Devon County Council, Mid Devon District Council and Crediton Town Council.
