POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a number of suspected arson attacks in Torrington.

Officers investigating the series, which have happened in the Torridge Vale area of the town, believe that they are linked.

A police spokesperson said: “We are seeking information following a recent spate of suspected arson attacks on vehicles and caravans in the area. The most recent incidents are:

“On Thursday, July 7, at around 9pm, officers were notified following reports of a fire at a caravan on Rolle Road in Torrington. The incident was attended by Fire Services who extinguished the fire.

“The second incident happened in the early hours of Friday, July 8, on South Street. An unknown offender set a vehicle alight before fleeing the scene.

“The latest incident took place on Rolle Road in Torringdon Vale on Sunday, July 10, between 9pm and 1.30am on Monday, July 11. A caravan was set on fire resulting in significant damage.

“No injuries were reported in any of the incidents; however, they could have had serious consequences.
