THE Winkleigh Singers, directed by Roland Smith, will present “King Arthur”, by Henry Purcell, on Monday, June 24 in Umberleigh Village Hall at 8pm.
This semi-opera includes tales of battles, love, good and evil spirits, unruly haymakers, with patriotic songs sung by soloists and choir, and some of the finest tunes of English Baroque.
Narrated by Gwyn Thatcher and accompanied by an instrumental group of diverse choir members, of piano, ’cello, violin and recorders, this is guaranteed to be an entertaining performance.
Outside there will be a bar in the interval to enjoy drinks on the lawn.
Tickets are £8 at the door or via the website: www.winkleighsingers.org.uk .
