AFTER four years’ hard work by local people on the Winkleigh Neighbourhood Plan, voters are now being asked to approve the Plan in a Referendum on June 17.

If more than 50 per cent of the votes are in favour of the Plan it will have legal force and Torridge District Council will use it to determine future planning applications.

Councillor Adrian Mercer, Chairman of Winkleigh Neighbourhood Plan Group commented that the Referendum is a “great opportunity” for local people to influence the future of the parish.

It is not just about housing he added: “The Plan will help to protect our unique natural environment; it will influence the design and location of new housing to produce good places to live; encourage new businesses to locate here and improve traffic and transport in the village.

“It’s really important that the people of Winkleigh turn out to vote on June 17 to make sure that their voice is heard.”
