AS a family we would like to say, through the Crediton Courier, a wholehearted thank you, to the businesses, traders and people of Crediton, for their unwavering support after the burning of our son Jamie's wreath, amongst others, at the War Memorial. I am sure that people, young and old, were dismayed by this act of malicious vandalism. Unfortunately I am a realist, and believe that the youths that committed this act will never be adult enough to admit to it. It was heart-warming and reassuring to sense the palpable feeling of empathy shown towards the family at this distressing time. The overall support shown from the community and from Jamie's Regiment is very comforting. Becky Collins should be extremely proud; she has done a very noble thing raising money for charity. Half of the money raised will be going to SSAFA, who support bereaved forces' families as well as serving forces and ex forces personnel, and the other half to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. The £500 raised is a substantial amount. Well done, Becky! We would like to say "thank you" to those who contributed to the lovely basket of flowers we received and also extend our personal thanks to Gillian Ponsford, Alan Quick and to Four Seasons.
