MEMBERS of the public are being invited to have their say about traffic and highways issues at a Crediton Town Centre and Traffic Consultation, which is being held in the town on Wednesday, March 6.

Crediton Town Council is hosting the event, which will be staged in the Boniface Centre, Church Lane, from 10am to 7pm.

The consultation will look at: 1 Ways of improving air quality in the town, 2 Making the town centre a better place to walk and cycle, 3 Custom and self-build homes: another way of delivering housing in Crediton, 4 The Crediton Neighbourhood Plan, 5 Ideas for a Newcombes Meadow trim trail.

The consultation includes the Crediton Town Council Feasibility Study which is seeking to deliver a number of aims:

Air Quality/Environment

• Better manage air quality

• Improve cycle access

• Review storm drainage and climate change reliance

• Management of the impact of HGV’s and noise impacts.

Bus Movement

• Better manage location and operation of bus stops

• Improve bus stop waiting realm.

Traffic Behaviour

• Reduce traffic speed

• Create smoother traffic flow.

Walkability

• Improve ability to walk and cross the road

• Improve accessibility for disabled and people with pushchairs or mobility aids.

Urban Realm

• Enhance public realm

• Improve natural landscaping through street trees and green landscaping

• Better manage current on-street parking stock

• Optimise frontage loading operation

• Review and better manage the ongoing maintenance burden.

Crediton Town Clerk, Mrs Clare Dalley, said: “The council hopes that as many people as possible will come along and ‘have their say’.

“We hope representatives from Mid Devon District Council, Devon County Council and Crediton Town Council will be there to talk about information in the consultation.”
