THERE should be some wonderful floral displays in Bow this summer if its welly boot ideas come into bloom.

At the April village market there was a bucket of old wellies for people to take a boot or two home to plant up.

The Garden Club said it would like to encourage as many people as possible to get involved with its fun “Plant a Welly” for the summer.

There was even an information sheet about the best way to use a welly for planting, how to put in the seeds or plants and put the welly/wellies where they would be appreciated - outside a house, hung from a fence, on a window sill.

Bow and District Garden Club’s next meeting is on Monday, May 9 when Jacqui Bourne from Blueberry Hill Market Garden near Bow will be talking about the health benefits of plants.

There will be a talk about ponds in July.  Adventurous planting will be the subject of the September 12 meeting with the annual meeting being on November 14 with a demonstration on making Christmas wreaths.

Meetings start at 7.30pm, usually at the Congregational Church Hall, but sometimes elsewhere, such as its July 11 meeting which will be at Bow Garden Centre.
