DEVON and Somerset Fire and Rescue mobilised a number of fire engines following a call at 12.46pm on August 27 reporting a barn well alight, which was spreading to domestic premises at Tiverton.

The fire spread from the barn to the main building.

Equipment used during the incident consisted of; four main jets, two hose reel jets, one 105 ladder, two triple extension ladders, one positive pressure ventilation fan and breathing apparatus.

Attending stations were; Crediton, Chulmleigh, South Molton, Chagford, Danes Castle, Bampton, Cullompton, Honiton, Tiverton, Witheridge, Middlemoor, Taunton, Bridgwater, Burnham-On-Sea, Wellington, Wiveliscombe and Martock.

Final details are that the barn has been 100 per cent destroyed by fire and the house 50 per cent destroyed by fire - a range of buildings, 30 metres by 40 metres consisting of one barn and private residential were involved.

Fire damaged ground floor of mid-terraced property at Sandford

DEVON and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received calls to a fire in the living room of a domestic property in Sandford, near Crediton at 12.40pm on Sunday, August 28.

Three fire engines from Danes Castle in Exeter, Middlemoor, Exeter and Witheridge attended.

Fire crews confirmed a fire involving the front room on the ground floor of a mid-terraced property measuring eight metres by six metres.

Approximately 60 per cent of the ground floor front room was damaged by fire and heat; and 80 per cent of the property was damaged by smoke.

The fire was extinguished by fire crews using two breathing apparatus wearers, one hose reel jet, a positive pressure ventilation fan, a safety jet and a thermal image camera.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.

Fire crews extinguished shed fire near Brampford Speke

A CALL reporting that a shed was on fire near Brampford Speke was received by Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue at 5.21am on Sunday, August 28.

Crews from Danes Castle and Middlemoor in Exeter were quickly mobilised to the incident and on arrival, confirmed the shed was well alight.

A third pump was mobilised to the incident to assist with personnel.

Crews used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. Electrical supply to the shed was also isolated.

The cause is believed accidental.
