THE Crediton In&Around community website passed a milestone recently by loading its 100th blog.

To mark the occasion the author, Fiona MacBeth, was presented with a delicious coffee cake made by Coco’s Bakery, one of many local businesses listed on the website.

Crediton In&Around was launched by the Crediton Heart Project in April this year to support the community by promoting local shops and services, as well as sharing stories by local people.

“When we started the website we hoped a few people would send us stories and ideas about how to cope with lockdown,” explained website editor, Rosemary Stephenson. “But we’ve been delighted by a steady stream of fascinating blogs about a huge range of topics ranging from beavers and gardening to mental health and local history.

“As well as our blogs, we are working hard to get all our fantastic local traders, such as Coco’s, listed on the site,” said Rosemary. “We then plan to add a visitors section and, when restrictions ease, an events calendar.”

Fiona MacBeth is a story artist who runs workshops using storytelling to help people make changes in their lives. Her blog is called “Making Change in Confusing Times” and explores the opportunities provided by the confusion of Covid.

Fiona also wrote one of the first blogs on the website, “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner”, about an art project she and her family took part in during the first lockdown.
