DO you want to help support your local community project?
Rural energy provider Calor is urging UK residents to get involved with the voting stage of its Rural Community Fund, which helps community groups from across rural England, Scotland and Wales gain funding for projects that will improve local life.
With five grants of £5,000, six of £2,500 and a further 10 £1,000 grants up for grabs, this year’s Fund includes applications for community centres, village halls and sporting venues, as well as initiatives to support local children and the elderly.
Applications are now closed, but the approved projects need as many community supporters as possible to cast their vote.
The projects with the most votes from each funding category will become finalists, and then finalist entries will be reviewed by a panel of independent judges to decide which entries are awarded the funding.
Anyone who lives in the UK and registers on the Calor Rural Community Fund website can vote, by choosing a project local to their area, or one further afield that they feel is most worthy.
Everyone gets 10 votes, which they can use at any time during the voting phase of the competition. Spread them around or use them all to support one project.
Once voters have registered on the website, all they need to do is click on the “Vote” button on any project they wish to support.
The closing date is June 29.
