FOR more than 10 years the Friends of Crediton Station have brightened up the town Railway Station’s platforms with attractive flower beds and planters.

At the same time they help maintain the traditional station signs and benches in the original London and South West Railway colours which they were instrumental in having installed.

The group is keen to recruit new members with green fingers to help them care for the flower beds and planters and also volunteers with practical skills to help with the woodwork projects at the station.

New volunteers are invited to join in an autumn tidy up at the station on the morning of Tuesday, October 4 at 10am.

Great Western Railway Station Manager Melanie Harvey said:  “The Friends of Crediton Station link the local community into the local rail network and it’s wonderful to see people who are willing to give their time freely to improve the local environment. We fully support them and thank them for what they do.”

More information about joining the Friends of Crediton Station is available from Celia Minoughan, Project Officer at the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership, on telephone 07929 243 510 or by email: [email protected] .
