A LITTER pick by volunteers will take place in Crediton on Wednesday, January 30.

The initiative is being organised by Crediton resident Matt Hulland, the Material Reclamation Facility manager at Exeter City Council, in conjunction with The Turning Tides Project.

Taking part will be representatives from the Tesco store at Wellparks, Mole Avon and The Red Deer and the litter pick will concentrate on the areas in that vicinity.

Matt explained: “We’ll meet at the Station Tea Rooms at 11am for a briefing and we’ll head off on the back road behind Tesco down to Mole Avon and pick all around there.

“Keep Britain Tidy, Mid Devon District Council and Exeter City Council are supporting the event with equipment, insurance, First Aid cover and outlets for waste and recycling.

“We hope to raise awareness not only of the litter problem we face but of the dog mess problem we have in Crediton. If there is further interest and other areas highlighted there could be further or regular events.”

Anyone who would like to take part is invited to attend the briefing from 11am and the event is due to finish by about 3.30pm.
