THE story entitled "League of Friends ’very anxious’ about Crediton Hospital’s future" appeared on the Crediton Courier on Friday, November 17, issue 1165.

THE League of Friends at Crediton Hospital are ’very anxious’ about the future of the hospital now that the community beds at Crediton and nearby community hospitals have gone.

Eight members of the League signed an open letter to Devon County Council (DCC) to ask for written assurances that it will act in the best interests of the residents of Crediton and its rural catchment area.

Given the demography of our rural areas with above average numbers of 60 plus residents with complex needs, the League would like some clarity on how RD & E plan to deliver a full health care service to Crediton and its rural communities.

To date there has been no public consultation on the future of Crediton Hospital.

Do you think the community should have a say in what happens to the hospital?

You can contact me at: 102 High Street, Crediton or by email at: [email protected] .

What you told us ...

I think the public should have a say. I hope they don’t close it completely I have physio there. I would need to go to Barnstaple or Tiverton which would be very difficult.

The League of Friends are doing a fantastic job. A hospital is badly needed in Crediton.

Ann Green, Crediton

My mum has been in there a few times. It’s easier to go to the hearing clinic in Crediton than having to go to Exeter. She has dementia and COPD and it would take all day to get her there and back. It would also mean someone would have to take her. It would be very tiring and stressful for her.

Lyn, Sandford

There was a petition to save Crediton Hospital. I thought it was all done and dusted but all the beds are gone and there’s only the audiologist and physiotherapist left. The country’s gone to pot. I’ve never seen it so bad.

Crediton Resident

I live in Coldridge so I’m miles away from any hospital. I do feel very isolated out there as the only public transport is a bus on a Friday.
