THE story "Plan is now for 257 homes at Creedy Bridge not 326" appeared in the Courier on Friday, April 13, issue 1185.
Gleeson Developments Ltd has submitted revised plans for 257 homes at the controversial Creedy Bridge development at Pedlarspool in the parish of Sandford.
In 2017 a whistleblower told the Courier that he had come across plans for Crediton to be doubled in size.
Work has already begun on 186 homes at Wellparks. A total of 49 homes at Cromwells Meadow and another 40 at Threshers have been approved by Mid Devon District Council. Planning for 75 homes at Higher Road has been refused and other plans for housing are expected to come forward in the future for Crediton Rugby Club site and the Forches Cross Playing Field.
Planning permission for 120 at Chapel Downs Farm was recently refused.
Gleesons recently held "consultations" in Sandford and Crediton which consisted of two small laminated plans showing the previous and new plans, which had already been published in the Courier.
Do you think the Crediton area needs so many extra houses and how will this affect the pollution levels and congestion - do you think the infrastructure can cope?
Please let me know.

What you told us ……….
I am disgusted with what little information was provided by Gleeson Developments at the recent public consultation. Do they think we are stupid? The approach was juvenile from them - do they think we are not intelligent enough for valid input?
The infrastructure of the town can’t cope and there are a number of issues that will affect residents such as jobs, parking, schools, hospital, police, doctors and flooding. The proportion of "affordable" homes is only 21%. I would like to know why the extra 57 homes over the original 200?
But the biggest problem is the infrastructure. Joined up thinking is what’s needed from all concerned.

Gleeson Developments say they are allocating a space for a primary school to be built in the future but where will those children go to school in the meantime if the other schools don’t have enough spaces?
Is building a second primary school in the parish of Sandford likely - how many villages in this area have more than one primary school?
With the development being so far out of town most of the children will be driven to school adding to the congestion and high level of pollution in the town. The older children going to Queen Elizabeth’s School will probably walk along the dangerous, narrow country lanes with the extra car fumes.
The same goes for the rugby club if it is built on the same development. Does anyone care about the health and wellbeing of our young people?
