A LARGE representation of a Christingle was made by Team Vicar, the Rev Lindsey Starrs, for the congregation at St Matthew’s Church, Coldridge, for this year’s annual Christingle Service.

Using a pumpkin to represent the world, a very large candle to represent the Light of the World, and with the assistance of children from the congregation, Rev Starrs explained the significance of the Christingle.

Children read prayers and adults read the readings.

All who attended received a lighted orange Christingle.

The Children’s Society is to receive the donations of money collected from candle-shaped money boxes and from donations made during the service.

After the service the congregation enjoyed coffee, tea and squash and mince pies in Coldridge Village Hall.
