PATHFINDER Village celebrated the VE Day 80th anniversary on Monday, May 5.

The event included the opening of the Community Garden behind the Village Hall that the garden club and volunteers have been working on for two years.
It was made possible with £4,719 from the National Lottery Community Fund and £1,000 from former County Councillor for the area Jerry Brook, who officially opened the garden by ceremoniously untying the gate.

Some villagers dressed up as Land Girls to do some planting and the Tedburn Community Choir sang.
Wartime vehicles were displayed and a special “Wartime” menu was enjoyed. A celebration cake made by Janet Nash was also enjoyed.

The garden was the idea of Sue Latham and the project led by Jane Moore, Chairman of the Pathfinder Village Residents Association, supported by many volunteers.
Others who made the garden possible included Peter and Maureen Barr, Chris Moore, Verne, Jim, Ian, Jerry, Chris, Barry Williams, Sarah, Martin Rich and Kitty.

The garden has planting areas, seating areas and makes a convenient addition to the hall’s facilities.
