RAPIDLY expanding Crediton-based business, Sandford Orchards this afternoon, Tuesday, October 25, took delivery of the first of three large vats.

The vats, for the storage of cider and apple juice, are arriving on lorries from the Exeter direction and along the A377 and motorists are advised of delays as two more vats are due to arrive this afternoon.

Police and other escort vehicles are accompanying the delivery of the vats.

A large crane will be installing the vats which will be fitted externally at Sandford Orchards factory on the Lords Meadow Industrial Estate.

Barny Butterfield said: “We need these large vats due to the rapid expansion of our business.

“They will be a great storage facility for us at our depot.”

• UPDATE: Sandford Orchards has confirmed that the remaining two vats may not be delivered today, Tuesday, October 25, due to logistical issues.
