• UPDATE: Brandwells Construction was contacted by the Courier at 3pm and the company said it would send a team to deal with the incident as soon as it could.

More cones have also been put around the hole in the road.

Motorists are advised to still take care at the location.

MOTORISTS are advised to drive carefully through traffic lights at Jockey Hill, Crediton.

A metal road covering which was covering a trench across the road has slipped with a two foot hole exposed.

There is nobody present today from the company, Brandwells Construction, which is installing a pedestrian crossing at the site.

A local resident has now placed two cones at the scene but it is narrow for lorries and coaches to get through.

Efforts are being made to contact Brandwells Construction.

Local residents say they have had several sleepless nights due to the loud noise from the rocking metal plates covering the road at the location.
