CREDITON United Football Club Committee is well ahead with plans for their Centenary Year Celebrations, with a series of events planned.

Numerous events are planned and details will be available in local publicity and through announcements in the Crediton Courier.

The opening event of the year will be a club function in the clubhouse on Saturday, March 20, with popular local group Ebeneezer providing the music, supported by a disco.

Tickets are now available from Four Seasons in the Crediton High Street or from club members.

The main Celebration Weekend will be from Friday, July 23 when the club is planning a Grand Sportsmen's Dinner Evening, in a large marquee, supplied by local firm Claremont Marquees, on the club's ground at Lords Meadow.

Plans are in-hand at the moment to obtain the services of a top ex-professional footballer as guest speaker, supported by a comedian and compere.

There will also be an auction of articles of football memorabilia and various raffles to raise money for club funds.

Tables for groups of 10 will be available, as well as individual tickets.

The following evening Saturday, July 24 the club will be holding a music function, featuring one of the top local bands. More details of both events will be available in the near future.

On Sunday, July 25 the club will have the use of the marquee available but has no function planned. They would like to hear from any organisation that might be planning a function around that time and would be willing to pay a contribution for the hire of the marquee.

Audiences of up to 400 will be able to be accommodated.

Anyone interested in taking up this offer is asked to contact Dave Blanchford on telephone 01363 775440.

In the summer months various special matches are being arranged, with the club hopeful that it can tempt a professional club to Lords Meadow.
