CREDITON United FC has scored a £400 donation from Crediton's Tesco superstore!

Chairman Dave Blanchford and treasurer Chris Gillard were both on hand to receive the £400 donation from Tesco's Community Champion, Kim Woods. The store chose to donate to the club as part of its community initiatives.

Dave said: "I would like to thank Tesco for the kind donation. We are celebrating our 100th anniversary this year with a series of events, the highlight of which will be on July 23 with a Sportsman's Dinner and the money will help us hold this event.

"We have negotiated to bring former Manchester United Player and Manager and England International, Wilf McGuinness, as the celebrity guest for the evening. A comedian and compere will be supporting the event.

Our celebrations however "kick-off" with our opening event next month on March 20 with popular live band, Ebeneezers, providing the entertainment in the Social Club."

The store's Community Champion Kim said: "I was more than happy to present Crediton United FC with the donation. I am pleased to be able to help them in their centenary year and I hope their 100th anniversary dinner is a great success!"
