AN Open Garden event will be held over two days this weekend at White Cottage, Belle Parade, Crediton, in aid of local charity, Hospiscare.

The delightful gardens at White Cottage contain many hidden areas and are bursting with colourful plants and boarders as well as interesting features.

It is a mature, south facing garden with water feature, vegetable garden, fruit trees, shrubs and beds, as well as a long terrace with a variety of interesting pots.

The garden and property are surrounded by a "crinkle crankle" wall, which sits on the edge of Newcombes Meadow.

It will be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday, September 4 and 5 from 12 noon to 5pm each day.

Admission will be by donation and dogs are welcome on leads.

There is limited wheelchair access.

Light lunches, cream teas and cakes will be available.

A similar two-day open garden at White Cottage two years ago was a resounding success and saw many visitors attend.

The weather was fine for the weekend and hosts Miranda and Roger Olver were pleased to report that the grand total from the fundraiser was £1,943.75 for Hospiscare.
