A COUPLE who were married at Bow Church have just marked their Golden Wedding anniversary with two celebrations.

Edwin and Valerie Hann (nee Berry) were married on May 11, 1966 and live at Higher Wotton Farm, Yeoford, where Edwin has lived for 62 years, retiring in 2015.

Valerie also worked at the farm, dealing with the day-to-day admin.

The couple have three daughters, 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren, with whom they celebrated along with friends, at the first party, held at the Waie Inn, Zeal Monachorum last Saturday.

The following day, Sunday, May 9, Edwin and Valerie enjoyed a special whist drive at Upton Pyne, where daughter, Sarah Chown, helped by David Tavener and friends, had organised an afternoon tea and cake.

During the afternoon their granddaughter, Sophie, presented them with a lovely orchid and golden wedding anniversary rose. She also presented Edwin with a gold medal to acknowledge the anniversary following his statement that he deserves a medal for making 50 years married to Valerie!

There were 17 tables in play at the special whist drive, where also on the same day players Pat and Norman Bickham from Wiveliscombe were celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.
