DEVON and Somerset Fire and Rescue were alerted to a tumble dryer on fire in a domestic property in Church Street, Crediton, at 2.53pm on Sunday, April 28.

A fire crew from Crediton attended as well as another from Danes Castle, Exeter, another from Middlemoor, Exeter and a fire service Operational Assurance Officer.

On arrival crews confirmed one tumble dryer smoking within the property.

The crews put out the fire using two sets of breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, one dry powder extinguisher and then used a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots and a positive pressure ventilation fan to remove smoke from the property.

Damage was confined to clothing within the tumble dryer. Duty of care was then left with the occupants.
