THE Lions Club of Crediton has planted a Red Oak at People’s Park in Crediton, courtesy of Crediton Town Council and Urban and Rural Tree Services Ltd of Crediton.

The tree was planted as part of the Lions ecological programme to mark the 100th anniversary year of Lions International 2016/17.

The tree was kindly donated by Ross Andrews and John Rich of Urban and Rural Tree Services Ltd of Crediton and planted at People’s Park by kind permission of Crediton Town Council.

The Lions Club of Crediton was Chartered in 1977 and it will celebrate its 40th anniversary next year.

Lion Eric Parkes is the last surviving founder member of the Lions Club of Crediton and is currently the president, a duty which he has undertaken on five previous occasions.

The tree is regularly watered and cared for by members of the club and by Urban and Rural Tree Services Ltd.

Following the tree planting, a celebration cake was cut to mark the anniversary of Lions International at Club Crediton.
