A CHARITY Tractor Run will take place in the Crediton area on Sunday, September 27, in memory of Nathan James Saunders.

Nathan tragically died aged just 19 years on Tuesday, March 10 following an agricultural accident at Brittledown Farm, near Cheriton Bishop.

A true country lad, Nathan grew up on his family farm near Sandford, with a love for farming, agriculture and the outdoors.

He always knew farming was where he wanted to be, and after finishing his education, he quickly found his place in the industry.

Known for his hard work, good humour and his famous saying “School is as useful as a yard scraper on gravel”, Nathan was happiest out on the farm.

He also enjoyed shooting and his beloved dog, Purdey.

Nathan was a much-loved son, brother, friend and a treasured member of the community.

This tractor run is being organised by Newton St Cyres Young Farmers Club in his memory, celebrating the life he lived, the farming life he loved and the many special memories he left behind.

YFC member Milly Grigg explained: “There will be lots of tractors taking part, as well as a BBQ, raffle, Gooseford milkshakes and a bake sale, so it should be a lovely day for everyone to come along and support the event.”

It is being held in aid of Devon Air Ambulance and the Farm Safety Foundation, widely known by its nickname, Yellow Wellies.

The Tractor Run will travel from Morchard Bishop to Lapford, Thelbridge, Black Dog, Kennerleigh, Sandford, New Buildings and back to Morchard Bishop.

Tractors and spectators should gather from 10am at Rudge Rew Farm, Morchard Bishop (EX17 6NG) and the Tractor Run will begin at 11am. The cost is £20 per tractor.

The family wrote in a tribute following Nathan’s sad death: “Nathan was the loving son of Steve and Steph, a dearly loved brother of Thomas and George.

“He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

“Nathan was often spotted with a big grin on his face driving along the road waving and flashing the lights on his tractor, if you were lucky enough he would toot his air horns as he drove past.”
