CREDITON Town Council is making good progress towards the installation of a new CCTV system for Crediton Town Centre.
Writing to Crediton Traders, Emma Anderson, Assistant Town Clerk, says: “I can now confirm that at a Full Council meeting held last week, the installation of a CCTV system was approved and a contractor has been appointed.”
She continues: “After discussing primary needs with the local police, coverage will include the High Street, Town Square, Newcombes Meadow and the War Memorial/toilet block area with the system being made up of 12 cameras, using seven locations in the Town.
“Last year I made contact with regard to business owners contributing to the cost of the CCTV system and I was pleased to receive a very positive response.
“At this stage, for the full installation of the CCTV system we are looking at a cost of over £25,000 as well as annual maintenance costs.
“Funding applications have been submitted where possible, however we would like to ask you to consider helping towards the upfront costs with a one-off donation of £50. Any contribution, no matter how small, would be helpful.”
Emma concludes: “At this stage, I am finalising logistics with the contractor and hope to update you with an estimated timescale soon! If you have any questions in the meantime, please feel free to contact me.”
