FIRE crews from North Tawton and Hatherleigh used hydraulic rescue equipment to release three people trapped in a red MG car following a collision.
The collision occurred just off the B3216 at Bassetts Cross, Jacobstowe, near Okehampton, at about 6.40pm on Thursday, October 8.
On arrival the fire crews found one vehicle had three teenagers trapped inside. One teenager was already out of the vehicle and being treated by Ambulance Service personnel.
Those trapped were released using hydraulic rescue equipment and small tools.
The driver, an 18-year-old man, was airlifted by a Devon Air Ambulance to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital before being transferred to Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, with serious injuries.
Two of the passengers, both teenage girls, received minor injuries, while a third passenger, a 19-year-old woman, was taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital with serious injuries.
The road was closed while an investigation took place. It re-opened around 1am.
