I AM proud to say that I have been running Crediton Post Office for 10 years and I must say those years have gone by in a blur.

Although I live in Exeter, I feel I have been accepted by the people of Crediton. I enjoy seeing all of our customers and I also enjoy a laugh and a joke with them. I am very lucky to have one customer who brings in delicious cakes (all for me, of course).

I have got to know many people in Crediton, including the last two Postmasters when this was still a Crown Office. They have told me a few good stories of their past here. They are certainly "Characters" as are many others.

Obviously, things have changed quite a lot now that this Post Office is privately run, but I hope not too much. I am very conscious of trying to keep it customer friendly and I think that reflects my staff; I could not have better. Without them, especially my manageress Claire, I could not have survived.

The town has changed quite dramatically in the last 10 years. I think the Town Square is a definite bonus. I do not think having a car park with constant air pollution on the square a good option.

I also think we should adopt free parking so as to attract more shoppers. I believe other towns are going down this route. If Tesco can do it, so can we.

There are many lovely shops in Crediton, old and new, which makes this a very special town. I hope to be a part of it for many years to come and if I am "grumpy" sometimes, I apologise.

In all seriousness I believe that we are far too stressed and should try to go back to the more relaxed way of life of years ago and be more helpful to others.

Thank you, people of Crediton, for being so supportive.
