JUST over a year ago Thorne’s Farm Shop at Stockleigh Pomeroy was approached by Hospiscare to see if it wanted to join the brand new 40’s Club.

Hospiscare wanted 40 businesses to raise £40,000 in a year as the charity was turning 40.

The staff at the farm shop took on the challenge to raise as much as they could, and out of it became #teamthornes .

The girls raised £3,500 through the year by doing various fundraisers including a quiz and pie night, Ultra challenge marathon walk, tractor run and they even donated their tips over a three month period.

They were invited to Hospiscare’s first 40 Club Awards Ceremony in Exeter where they won the “Most Engaged Business” award presented to them by retired Exeter Chief player Don Armand, who has a connection with the charity.

As a collective of 60 businesses the total raised for the year was a staggering £85,000, which will be put to great use by Hospiscare.

#teamthornes is now planning the next 12 months charity events so look out for the posts on what is happening on social media and Thorne’s Farm Shop website.
