THE Devon County Agricultural Association is proud to announce that Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex has accepted an invitation to be President Elect of the Devon County Agricultural Association for 2016 and will become President in 2017.

Mary Quicke MBE, Chairman of Council of the Devon County Agricultural Association, said: “I’m thrilled and inspired that The Countess of Wessex has chosen to become the President Elect of the Devon County Show this year. HRH is passionate and committed to farming and food production, and it is wonderful to have her support.”

The Countess is a staunch supporter of agricultural shows and is Patron of the Association of Show and Agricultural Associations (ASAO).

The Devon County Show, whose patron is His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, is no stranger to a royal President; HRH The Duchess of Cornwall was President in 2008.

In the South West The Countess has been President of the Royal Cornwall Show (2014) and the Royal Bath and West (2010).

Agriculture is at the heart of the Show, which highlights many aspects of rural life including farming, food and drink, horticulture and countryside skills.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex visited the Show seven years ago.
