PRO-ACTIVE work by Crediton Police - often intelligence led from members of the public - has netted positive results in recent weeks, much to the delight of Crediton Police Sgt Dave MacFadden.

Special Police Constables taking part in a Drink Drive Campaign at Newton St Cyres had their evening cut short on September 1.

The officers were not only involved in stopping motorists suspected of drink-driving but were carrying out speed checks and stopping motorists who they believed were using mobile telephones while driving, were not wearing seatbelts, had headlight bulbs out or were using foglights.

The officers stopped a red BMW and during a search of the vehicle various substances, believed to be illegal drugs were found.

These were seized and both the passenger and driver arrested after they were found in possession of controlled substances. The vehicle was also seized.

One of the suspects has been placed on police bail and no action is being taken against the other.

Special Constable Barwick confirmed that she will be leading another Drink Drive campaign in the area in October.
