A TOTAL of 1,132 local people applied for jobs at the new Tesco superstore which is nearing completion on the outskirts of Crediton.

The superstore, which has created approximately 250 new full and part time jobs, has now finished recruiting and store manager, Ian Dyer, said the number of applications was "overwhelming".
