A TEENAGER has been cleared of taking part in the robbery of a 75-year-old pensioner who was mugged of £140 in Crediton.

Chorley Laxton (18), of Salmonhatch, Crediton, was found not guilty by a Judge at Exeter Crown Court after the prosecution offered no evidence and dropped the case.

A 17-year-old has admitted the robbery and been remitted to Exeter Youth Court, where he due to be sentenced later.

The 75-year-old suffered minor injuries when he was pushed over by the youth during the mugging on September 21 last year.

Mr William Parkhill, for Laxton, said the case was being dropped because further police inquiries had shown he had not been involved in the robbery.
