HANNAH Scott (10), a pupil at Tedburn St Mary Primary School, has won a competition to design her Member of Parliament’s Christmas card for 2015.

Central Devon MP Mel Stride sends more than 1,000 cards each year, including to organisations he’s visited during the previous 12 months, as well as friends, family and fellow MPs.

This is the third year Mr Stride has opened the design up to a competition from all 43 primary schools within his constituency.

Hannah’s winning entry has a fantastic picture of two penguins in the snow.

The competition was sponsored, for the third year, by Rex Rozario OBE, Chairman of Graphic Plc in Crediton.

Designs by Heidi Flowers (7) from Hatherleigh and Thomas Dennis (8) from Bickleigh were the runners-up.

Heidi drew a picture of Santa enjoying a glass of mulled wine and Thomas designed a creative card with an array of Christmas fare including a Christmas pudding, tree and reindeer pulling a sleigh.

The winning design features on the front of the card and two runners-up appear on the back.

Mel commented: “The standard of the entries was very high with some wonderful cards not able to make it into the top three.

“It was great that so many schools got involved and it certainly makes the task of sending out so many cards much more fun! I’m very grateful to Rex Rozario for sponsoring the competition again.”

The winner and runners-up were notified last week and Mel will be visiting each of them at their schools in the New Year to thank them personally.
