THIS year’s Crediton Flower Festival, has again proved a success with some stunning interpretations of the theme In Our Element.
The festival, held at Crediton Parish Church from Saturday, June 2 until Thursday, June 7, and filled the church with vibrant and colourful displays.
The theme lent itself to a variety of interpretations including the periodic table, the four elements of earth, water, air and fire and the Sacraments featuring the elements of bread and wine.
Displays included Raindrops keep falling on my head, from the earth Nature’s Remedies, The Periodic Table of the Elements, The Sacraments - The Elements, Blue Planet and an interpretation of the Charles Causley poem I am the Song.
These were interspersed with stunning floral displays.
One of the flower organisers, Mary Tasker explained: "A faithful band of people brought their skills to the festival this year.
"We also had our first male flower arranger, Francis Burrows, for the first time this year.
"The theme is very important and this year’s theme "In Our Element" was very colourful and fun."
During the festival there was an opportunity for people to take tours to the historic Governor’s Room and the the bell tower.
Visitors were able to enjoy a meal or a cup of tea in the Fare Weather Café in the Boniface Centre where members of the Newton St Cyres Art Group exhibited their work.
A concert "Elements of Music" was held on June 2 in aid of the Holy Cross Endowment Fund and the evening service on the Sunday was "Songs of Praise."
Crediton Town Band gave a rousing finale to the festival with a free concert.See our lovely double page spread in this week's issue of the Courier (June 8). More photos are also available at the Courier office.
