A LOCAL lady in a black Ford Focus driving past West Studham towards Yeoford was trapped in her car for a while after a large oak tree branch came down on top of her vehicle.

The incident happened at about 12 noon today, Tuesday, January 2 as Storm Henk swept across the area with strong winds and rain.

The woman was able to escape through a rear door.

Local resident Phil Hancock came across the situation and used his chainsaw which he fortunately had with him to cut up the branch on top of her car.

Phil added: “I sawed it up but then it transpired there were two more blocking the road further on.

“I then cut those up to clear the road and had a chat with the police who had come to have a look”.
