MORE than £3,000 was raised at Spreyton when a tea, raffle, sale and silent auction was held with all the proceeds going to Ukraine DEC.

Held in the village hall on Sunday, March 27, tables down one side of the hall were filled with books, great gift ideas, cakes and plants while people sat at tables filling the other half.  Names of all the many donors were displayed on a big sign inside the hall.

More than 20 lots were in the silent auction.

They included a night for two in a shepherd’s hut, afternoon tea for two at Gidleigh Park, a voucher for Sunday lunch for four people at Spreyton’s Tom Cobley Tavern, load of logs from Devon Oak, cream tea for two at Bovey Castle and even a day for two people at the Edinburgh Festival.

There was blue and yellow bunting around the village hall, huge blue and yellow paper flowers had been made to decorate stalls and the whole event buzzed all day.

Posies of flowers had been made for people to buy for Mother’s Day including white rosebuds in their own little pots.
