SCHOOL Festival. St Michael's Church was the location when Spreyton Primary School celebrated with its Harvest Thanksgiving service. Many parents and friends made a large gathering.

Headteacher Mrs Tracey Lindsay welcomed everyone and the Rev Noel Walter from the Whiddon Benefice also took part and led the prayers.

The congregation joined in the first hymn Lord of the Harvest. Classes One and Two gave songs and poems.

All donations from a retiring collection will go to WaterAid, the charity chosen by the children.

The parents and children returned to the school where the Rev Noel Walter performed the dedication and opening of the new dining hall which was completely modernised during the summer term.

Harvest supper. The annual harvest supper was held in the village hall and was very well attended.

Organisers were Hilary Elston, assisted by Betty Endacott and Eve Collins who were also responsible for selling tickets.

The table flower arrangements were beautifully presented by Phil Tucker with Angela Hawkins and daughter Victoria in charge of the raffle.

The chairman of the village hall committee, Tony Talbot, welcomed everyone and John Williams, church LWL led the short worship, with Geraldine playing for the singing of harvest hymns.

Among the many helpers and acting as waiters and waitresses were Hilary Elston, Cleave Collins, Angela and Vicki Hawkins, Tina Baker, Alethea Kennerley and Sharon and Des Hawkins.

The meat was prepared by Roger and Carol from the Tom Cobley with special thanks conveyed to them from the organisers.

Sadly, the entertainment booked was unable to attend due to illness.
