THE recent Soup and Cheese Lunch held at Newton St Cyres Parish Hall raised £522 for Church funds.
Tony Hough was on the door, Chris and John Salter ran the bric-a-brac stall and Margaret Walters and grandaughter Alice ran the draw.
The cooks in the kitchen were Anne Mitchell and Ann Ward, with helpers. Everyone agreed it was a great event.
Two new residents to the village. who attended the lunch were Nicola and Michael Baker, who moved to West Town, just before Christmas, following Nicola’s retirement from Exeter University.
The couple say they love the village and are already getting involved in village life and events. Michael says he had relations who lived in the village many years ago.
