NEWCOMBES Meadow Community Group, which has been campaigning to improve the old play equipment in the town's main park, Newcombes Meadow, hope that works to install the first phase of new play equipment will be completed before Christmas.

The group recently displayed proposals at a public exhibition held at the Council Chamber, Market Street, Crediton.

Ruth Preater-Gillard, chairman, said: "We would welcome sponsors for individual pieces of equipment. Individual pieces range from £380 for a seat to £16,500 for a play village."
