IN these days full of awful happenings, I want to tell your readers of some real goodness.

Many years ago we were helping my nonagenarian father slowly over the road in Crediton. A tall, young, strong man crossed at the same time, but slowed down to our pace until we were safely across the road - and then rushed off at his pace.

Now, many years later, I am pushing my elderly and very sick husband (plus two dogs) round Crediton to do the shopping.

So many times a total stranger has come to help me when I am struggling with a steep camber, or a curb or some other daunting hazzard.

I am so grateful to them, as I am to all the people at Sandford Church who go out of their way to help us.

There are so many good people about, but they don't make the headlines!
