BIG bouquets were due for everyone who had anything to do with the production of the panto Sleeping Beauty recently staged at Tedburn St Mary.

This was the first time Tedburn Amateur Dramatic Society had done Sleeping Beauty in the half century-plus that it has been going.

It took the traditional tale in a traditional way, with good modern twists, plenty of chance to boo and hiss, to cheer and clap, the slapstick on stage, some groan-worthy jokes and loads of fun.

The beautiful princess pricked her finger on the spinning wheel, the wicked witch did her worst, but the good fairy managed to weaken the powers so that, as we all know, the princess falls asleep for 100 years.

After much plotting and effort, she is woken by the young prince who, as the good fairy said, looks extraordinarily like his great grandfather who was banished from the kingdom after falling in love with the princess. Ahhh.

The modern touches included Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood, judges for the Zombie Come Dancing including Craig Rebel-Nutjob and Len Notgoodenough.

No-one, not even the littlest zombie stood around doing nothing, everyone made sure they gave their audience good giggles.

Delightful touches such as the moose head with its huge grin and crossed eyes, the scenery was brilliant and all the hard work certainly paid off.

Well done to producer Linda Bellshaw, directors Charles Pallot and Debbie Garrish and to the House Band of Vicky Adams, Karen Scott, Dave Brewer and Will Conner.

All in all, a good enjoyable evening, loads of laughs and comfortable seats.
