THE Choir from Crediton Parish Church sang the “Magnificat”, from the Collegium Regale by Herbert Howells, “God So Loved the World” by Bob Chilcott and the Trebles from the Choir sang the Aria “Sound The Trumpets” by Henry Purcell, as well as accompanying the congregation for hymns during Mid Devon District Council’s Annual Civic Service held at St Andrew’s Church, Cullompton.

The Chairman of Mid Devon District Council, Cllr John Daw, hosted the service, which was conducted by the Rector, the Rev Edward Hobbs.

Readings were given by Mr Daw and a representative from the Cullompton Street Pastor Scheme and there was also a talk by another representative.

The prayers were led by and an address given by Rev Hobbs and there was some “lively” accompaniment on the organ for the hymns.

Among the guests who attended the service were many Mayors and Mayoresses from authorities across the county, the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Devon, Sir Ian Amory and Tiverton and Honiton MP, Neil Parish.

The service concluded with “The National Anthem”.

Refreshments were enjoyed after the service in Cullompton Community Centre.
