CREDITON Methodist Church is pleased to host Crediton Singers fund raising concert at 4pm on Saturday, April 2 in aid of Ukrainian refugees.

Admission is free with donations going to the Red Cross whose workers in Ukraine are on the front line.

Unfortunately some person chose to vandalise the hardboard notice outside the church advertising this concert.

It is a poignant reminder of the broken country of Ukraine.

We hope that the church will be full and that everyone is generous and enables the choir to send a sizeable donation to the Red Cross.

POPULAR local choir the Crediton Singers is holding an emergency fund raising concert for the Ukrainian refugees.

The event is to be held at Crediton Methodist Church on Saturday, April 2 at 4pm. Admission is free with donations going to the Red Cross whose workers in the Ukraine are on the front line.

“We knew we had to do something immediately,” says Diane Cummings of the choir. “Seeing the unfolding horror, the flight of two million refugees driven from their homes and the awful destruction targeted at innocent families means we must take action.”

The choir has put together a popular programme of songs and anthems and will be joined by singing star Clare Watson who has sung with the Military Wives Choir and for Exeter Chiefs at live events.

Piano supremo and teacher Tim Matthews will perform music by Bach, Dunkirk, Einaudi, Tiersen and Yiruma. Other soloists may yet offer to get involved and are welcome to do so.

“One of our choir member’s grandparents were driven out of the Ukraine in the early part of the 20th Century as part of Russian pogroms so the current situation is personal to all of us,” adds Diane.

“The choir hopes to fill the church hall on April 2. It is a great opportunity for local people to donate to a fantastic cause, stand up for refugees and for human rights.

“This is a chance to send a message to Vladimir Putin and his cabal that everyone in Devon is disgusted by his war... and that we can all be a small part of the greater resistance.”
