CREDITON Arts Centre, Crediton Town Team and Crediton Town Council have worked hard since April to bring entertainment to the Town Square, and as the summer winds down and the new school year approaches, Share in the Square is presenting a special weekend of events for the Bank Holiday period.
On Saturday, August 28, the Share in the Square Music extravaganza sees a host of musical talent playing between 11am and 5.30pm.
Totnes-based choir Glorious Chorus open the day, followed by local favourites The Triffles, Treehouse, Whittall and Cookson, The Corduroy Curiosities and The Moonshine Serenaders.
The wonderful Devon-based folk legend Jim Causley will finish off the programme with his songs of Devon life. Described by Mojo as "the finest singer of his generation" and by "The Guardian" as "spearheading the West Country folk revival", Jim is a treat not to be missed.
Sunday, August 29 sees a visit from Cornwall’s Bash Street Theatre with their new show "The Cameraman".
Set around the seedy French Cafe du Pont, this is a playful homage to the film-noir genre, with voice-over narration, live musical accompaniment and the theft of the world’s largest diamond, strongly influenced by Humphrey Bogart, Buster Keaton, Tintin and Roger Rabbit.
This madcap caper, which will delight all the family, starts at 2.30pm.
Monday, August 30 sees the return of the popular Piano in the Square, presented by The Music Makers.
The concert grand piano which lives at the Congregational Church will be moved into the Square for a series of classical and jazz recitals from 11am to 2pm.
All events are free but donations are welcome.
