"More than Just books" a joint venture between Upstream and Devon Library Services was held at Crediton Library to promote the resources available.

The session was the first of eight; others will include food, music and poetry and involve local people and local resources.

Specialist services librarian Geoff Green and Laura Conyngham of Crediton Upstream group explained to local people what the library has to offer.

The group looked at a "box of reminiscence," which includes a sock darning mushroom, sunlight soap and a blue bag.

They also looked at a range of visual, tactile and auditory materials that are available on loan through the library including a selection of audio books on tape and CD, items in Braille or alternative formats and large print books.

The Tuesday morning sessions are held at Crediton library from 10.15am to 11.45am.
