AN opportunity to see thousands of crocuses spread throughout a two-acre garden at East Worlington House (two miles west of Witheridge) and into the neighbouring churchyard is available on two dates in March.

The garden will be open to the public as part of the National Garden Scheme from 1.30pm to 5pm on Sunday, March 4 and Sunday, March 11.

Admission is £4 for adults and free for children.

The garden is set in a lovely position with views down the valley to the Little Dart river.

Those who go along are welcome to walk down to the river, across the bridge into the wildflower meadow (not flowering yet!) and join the public footpaths in the woods.

Waistline-threatening teas will be available in the parish hall.  The profit from the tea goes towards funding further work on the parish hall.

Dogs are permitted on leads.

The garden is in the centre of East Worlington (EX17 4TS).  From Witheridge square go right to East Worlington. After 1.5 miles turn right at the T-junction in Drayford, over the bridge then left to Worlington. After 0.3 miles turn left at the T-junction. The garden is 200 yards on the left. Disabled parking is available at the house. Parking is provided nearby.

The National Garden Scheme raises money for caring charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie and Hospice UK. To see all the gardens open in Devon this year pick up a yellow booklet at your nearest garden centre or visit: www.ngs.org.uk .
