THE Crediton Branch of Save The Children has been functioning for many years now with great success.
However, the time has now come, like all charities and organisations, that we need help on the committee.
We have been a happy hard-working group, who run two largish events and three to four smaller coffee mornings a year.
We meet about four to five times a year as a committee, but would like some more volunteers please.
We could also do with helpers who would be prepared to help on the day of the event rather than attend regular meetings.
Save The Children acts in 120 countries around the world and also in the United Kingdom with provision of the basic needs of children, mainly education and health.
We take it for granted that our children have a roof over their heads, running water and schooling with NHS medical care, clothes and heating.
There are some 75 million children in the world who do not have school or healthy lives and most probably do not reach the age of five. One mother dies in childbirth every minute of every day.
I feel passionately about the right of a child to have a life so if you join me with this passion, please contact me, Paddy Dornom, Vice Chairman, on telephone 01363 84385, if you can help.
Our AGM will being held at Club Crediton, Searle Street, Crediton on Tuesday, February 16 at 7pm.
If anyone thinks they can help, please feel free to come and meet us and hopefully join our happy band.
Paddy Dornom
Publicity Secretary
